8 Gamers and Teams Who Were Caught Cheating

Image
Ever since the beginning of video games, people have been finding ways to unfairly gain the upper hand by employing various tricks, matchfixers, aimbots and even screen-cheaters.  Sometimes, these cheaters manage to get away unpunished! But there are situations where they are caught red handed and shamefully exposed in front of the entire gaming community.

KID X
Kid X, a top 200 Overwatch Player and high-profile streamer on the Korean server, was banned for using an aimbot. However, this ban didn't happen privately since Kid X was streaming when the banhammer fell on him. His use of an aimbot wasn't hidden at all, Blizzard was able to find out almost immediately and managed to shut down Kid X's account midstream. And because this gaming company has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to dealing with cheaters, Kid X's ban is permanent.
Darkside
Darkside was a notorious hacker and he terrorized the Guildwars PvP scene for weeks. His character being dreadfully strong, n…

Cinematic vs. Non Cinematic Games

Image
I've always preferred 'cinematic' cutscene-heavy games to tell me a story. I strongly believe you cannot get the quite same investment from Half-Life style in-game storytelling.  While I adore games like Gone Home, Dear Esther, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture - and they've certainly made me feel more involved in the world - they don't hold a candle to the feelings caused by the finely crafted cutscenes of The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid, or your various Final Fantasies.

The cutscenes
With cutscenes, the director can control absolutely everything you see, and that's so so so important. You can cut to close-ups for subtle facial animation, cut away for reactions, not show things, focus on parts of symbolic components in the environment for added effect, and so much more. All of the film-making tools and techniques are available there, and they work wonderfully. This helps catapult me through games. I get a real sense of enjoyment out of the gameplay as I a…

Friday The 13th The Game Launch Failure

Image
Friday The 13th The Game is off to a rocky start

Owners of the newly released multiplayer horror game are having difficulties getting the game to function at all. Users are reporting a "Database Login Failure"error that has been occuring since launch. The developers made a statment on twitter saying this, Anyone experiencing 'Database Login Failure,' please note that's a server issue. We are upgrading/migrating right now. This should stop soon — Friday the 13th Game (@Friday13thGame) May 27, 2017

As of now, (11am EST) the game is still unable to connect to the servers. This could be due to an overwhelming number of players that wasn't expected by the developers. Unfortunately these are the types of downsides that come with multiplayer only games and these day it seems inevitable. We also have to remember that this isn't a giant triple A production, Gun Media is a small indie studio. Hopefully the game can survive this rocky launch since it is getting real…

Is Far Cry 5 Racist Against White People?

Image
Far Cry 5 is based around a group of back-wood white rednecks in Montana. We don't know the exact story of the game but Im willing to bet it will be the exact same formal as the last 4 games with the goal to kill a powerful leader. I have noticed something about this game recently. It does come off as racist against white people. In most gaming forums, subreddits, there is a obvious underlying contempt for "fly-over states" and it's one thing I've noticed and dislike about the gaming community as of now.

I saw a comment on GameFAQ that said "Finally a game about killing Right Wingers!"

Is Ubisoft to blame for this? Did the developers intend for the game to be seen this way? If they did it to make a neat story, thats fine. But did they do it to solely shit on white people by saying that all white christians are evil racist monsters?

I hope the game doesn't devolve into a partisan propaganda piece where you mow down "the stupid rednecks in Trump'…
